The father of a woman who has been linked to David Beckham has slammed the story as ‘ridiculous’.
Victoria and David Beckham were forced to address rumours of a split on Friday, and now the father of the woman who social media connected to the former footballer has spoken out in defence of his daughter.
‘My daughter has never even met him. End of story,’ he said.
‘This is ridiculous. We have no idea where it has come from. She is a very pretty, attractive girl and been linked to it by fake news.’
Speaking to The Sun On Sunday, he also claimed she lives ‘very happily with her boyfriend’ and had a normal life.
Reps for the Beckhams said at the time: ‘This is just fake social media news. This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time. There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news.’
The couple’s statement comes after Paddy Power suspended betting on a split announcement.
The bookmakers stopped accepting bets on the pair – who have been married for nearly 19 years – announcing their separation, even offering odds on who David’s next missus could be.
However, a rep for David called the move ’embarrassing and laughable’.
Rumours began swirling on social media hinting at a scandal about to erupt, but there was no suggestion on either star’s social media that their marriage was in trouble – in fact, Victoria’s last Instagram post, shared earlier today, said that she ‘missed’ her husband.
Posh and Becks – who have a net worth of over £500 million – started dating in 1997, and became engaged the following year.
They got married in Ireland on 4 July 1999 in a lavish ceremony, and have gone on to have four children together – Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, six.
