The Trumps are off to Europe for a week-long trip, and Melania‘s wardrobe is already making headlines. The First Lady was photographed in D.C. on Tuesday wearing a red top, tan A-line Martin Grant skirt, and a pair of Louboutin heels that the brand described as having an “audacious new trash flair.”
The nearly $800 heels feature pieces from “hand-torn” Louboutin shopping bags under a P.V.C. sheet. Many of the sizes on the label’s Web site are sold out.
Trump changed on the flight, switching into a pair of black Louboutins and adding a roughly $2,000 Burberry trench coat as she arrived with her husband in Belgium. It’s only the first leg of a European trip that will surely bring more noteworthy looks; on Friday, the Trumps will be meeting with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle.
The world has been keeping a closer eye on Trump’s fashion choices recently. In the midst of her husband’s controversial policy separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, last month Melania donned the infamous “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” Zara jacket on her way to visit a detention center. An $800 pair of “trash” heels isn’t exactly the same as her controversial Zara jacket. But, per usual, Melania has found a way to grab the world’s attention.
