The Fortnite Season 5 battle pass is here! For those just joining us, the battle pass is a one-time microtransaction that you can level up over the course of a 10 week-long season, gaining access to a treasure trove of new skins, emotes, pickaxes and back blings. You do that in a few ways, but none of them quite so potent as completing weekly challenges that pop up every Thursday morning: these range from defeating enemies in a particular location to hunting down treasure or other weird objects across the map. There’s a slight change this season: now the first four challenges will be available to all players free-to-play or otherwise, whereas the last three will be reserved for battle pass owners. The Week 1 challenges just dropped, so let’s get into it.
- Deal damage with SMGS to opponents (0/500)
- Search a Supply Llama (0/1)
- Clinger, Stink Bomb or Grenade Eliminations (0/3) HARD
- Search Chests in Snobby Shores (0/7)
- Search floating Lightning Bolts (0/7)
- Follow the Treasure Map in Risky Reels (0/1) HARD
- Eliminate opponents in Retail Row (0/3) HARD
From the top, then. SMGS shouldn’t be too hard: they’re one of the more ubiquitous items, and effective at short to mid-range. You don’t need to kill anyone here, just need to put damage down. A good way to fill any damage challenge
Searching a Supply Llama is mostly just a matter of luck. They’re bright purple Pinatas found throughout the world, and you’re basically just going to have to traipse around until you find one. Don’t worry, you will.
Clinger, Stink Bomb and Grenade Eliminations are going to be a pain. It’s just what it sounds like: you’ve got to kill an enemy with one of those three items, three times. All of them come with their strengths and weakness, but grenades will be by far the most widely available. Just don’t stress and use the items when you get them: you can also finish off a downed opponent with one if you’d rather make it a bit easier.
Snobby Shores has a ton of chests, so this shouldn’t be too hard. A good location here is the southernmost house, which has a secret bunker in the basement with at least one chest down there, usually more. It’s not as popular, so you might get some breathing room to open them. Remember though that nobody goes to Snobby the rest of the time, so this should be easy to fill next week if you can be patient.
We should have a guide for floating lighting bolts in one second, check back,
Eliminating opponents in Retail Row is as easy and hard as it sounds. Just drop in, load up and try your best. The place is going to be an absolute madhouse this week, so you’ll get there eventually. Netting this whole list will get you 50 Battle Stars, or five whole tiers. It’s a long way to the top.
